Do songs work as comprehensible input?

Songs can be one of the best ways to make input both comprehensible and compelling. They’re also probably the only medium that can be consumed infinitely - you might listen to a song 100 times while you’re not going to read the same book 100 times.

Research confirms this:

Classroom researchers report that AE [accelerated English] learners exposed to song-based instruction develop strong listening and speaking skills. They use language from songs spontaneously in conversation, show greater risk-taking in oral tasks, and exhibit refined pronunciation and rhythm. Teachers observe high levels of enthusiasm, attentiveness, and voluntary language production among these students.
